List of Numbers Calculator — Instant Descriptive Statistics

Why use an online list calculator?

Opening a spreadsheet just to add up a few numbers or compute an average is often overkill. This calculator delivers every descriptive statistic — sum, mean, median, standard deviation, quartiles, and outliers — in a single click, with no installation or sign-up required.

Adding labels to each row turns a bare list of numbers into a readable mini-budget or annotated measurement log. The percentage breakdown and division feature make it easy to split a bill fairly or calculate a monthly instalment.

All calculations run in your browser: no data is ever sent to a server. Your financial information, school grades, or professional data remain strictly private.

Who uses this tool?

Individual managing a budget
Enter your monthly expense items with labels (rent, groceries, transport…) and instantly get the total, percentage breakdown, and each roommate's share using the Division feature.
Statistics student
Quickly verify your mean, median, standard deviation, and quartile calculations on an exercise dataset. The tool also flags outliers using Tukey's method — handy for descriptive statistics coursework.
Teacher or trainer
Paste a class's grades from a spreadsheet and get the mean, median, and spread in one click. Instantly identify extreme values to fine-tune your assessment.
Professional on the go
Split a restaurant bill between colleagues, total up field readings, or compute quick indicators straight from your phone — no need to open Excel.

How to analyze a list of numbers step by step

Enter your numbers one per line, with an optional label for each value (expense category, student name, date…).

Enable the options you need: total division, percentage display, or exclusion of negative values.

Click Analyze to get every descriptive statistic, a bar chart, a sorted list, and outlier detection.

Frequently asked questions about the list calculator

What is the difference between the mean and the median?
The mean is the sum of all values divided by their count. The median is the value that splits the series into two equal halves. The median is less sensitive to extreme values: if one very high salary pulls the mean upward, the median still represents the group accurately.
How does the tool detect outliers?
The tool uses Tukey's fence method. Any value below Q1 − 1.5 × IQR or above Q3 + 1.5 × IQR is flagged as an outlier. This method is robust and widely used in descriptive statistics.
Can I import data from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Copy your cells in Excel or Google Sheets and use the 'Paste from clipboard' button. The tool automatically detects separators and imports labels and values correctly.
Does the calculator handle decimals and negative numbers?
Yes. Decimal numbers (using a dot or comma) and negative numbers are fully supported. An option lets you exclude negative values from the total if you only want to sum positive amounts.
How many values can I analyze at once?
There is no strict limit. The tool runs smoothly with several hundred rows. Beyond that, performance depends on your browser, but calculations remain near-instant because they run locally.
